Action Cancer’s Big Bus visits Lagan Construction Group

06 May 2016

As part of Lagan Construction Group’s health and wellbeing initiatives for employees, the company arranged for leading local charity Action Cancer and their “Big Bus” to visit Office Headquarters in Belfast. Staff had the opportunity to visit the bus during working hours to have a health check consultation. The bus will also be visiting other locations where Lagan Construction Group employees are based in an attempt to get staff thinking about their health and wellbeing.

The Big Bus provides visitors with a full body composition analysis using the latest technology giving information on the person’s height, weight, body mass index and offers health awareness and weight loss guidance. The health checks include tests for blood pressure, lung capacity, cholesterol levels and skin damage caused by exposure to the sun. Blood glucose is also checked to test for diabetes risk and visitors are given dietary advice and information on exercise, quitting smoking, alcohol and how to make changes to their lifestyle that will reduce their risk of getting cancer

The Big Bus staff can provide information on complementary therapies and other cancer support services such as counselling, a Listening Ear Service, Peer Mentoring and support groups, which are available for cancer patients, their careers and families at the charity’s headquarters in Belfast and at other locations.
