FK Lowry, in conjunction with the Northern Ireland Geotechnical Group (NIGG), played host to up to 50 Consultant Engineers at a recent Continuing Professional Development (CPD)Seminar, held in Belfast. Consultants from Amey, WYG, Arup, Aecom, WDR & RT Taggart, Ian Black Consulting, Gavin & Doherty and Queens University attended the CPD Breakfast Seminar at the Wellington Park Hotel, Belfast on Wednesday 3rd August.
The CPD event was held just yards from where FK Lowry are installing 385 No. 450mm diameter CFA Bearing Piles, 376 No. 750mm Dia. Secant Bored Piles and 64 No. 600mm diameter Contiguous Bored Piles for Northern Ireland based Contractor, O’Hare & McGovern at their prestigious School of Biological Sciences Development at the Queens University Campus. Following the Seminar, the Clients were escorted to the site to witness the installation of 750mm diameter Secant Wall Piles using FK Lowry’s Soilmec SR70 Piling Rig.
“We as a business are closely affiliated with the ICE and NIGG and due to the increased workload in Belfast we felt it was an appropriate time to undertake a geotechnical presentation to our local Consultants with an opportunity to visit a high profile local project to witness the installation of Piles. The Presentations covered a thorough explanation of piling techniques with particular emphasis on digging technology and the correct choice of plant and equipment for particular ground conditions. The Event was extremely successful and we plan to undertake similar CPD Events in other UK Cities.”Niall McGill, FK Lowry Piling’s Piling Director
